"My art always deals with two opposing ideas. Good - Bad, Happy - Sad, Love - Hate, Death - Life etc etc. For this design I wanted to take that to a whole new level with literal opposing color schemes. Black and white but not the same. One black based shoe and one white based shoe. I also wanted to cram the space with lots and lots of detail, which Crocs were able to print beautifully. I wanted the owner/wearer to constantly discover new art every time they wore the shoes. There's a lot to look at and a lot to get lost in. That's another reason I stuck with black and white.
For the Jibbitz I chose to use some of my classic characters, my gleeful mushroom and the anxious skull I use in a lot of my art. I included my logo for some shameless promotion and a yellow collegiate ‘W’ icon. I hide all of these elements in my illustration work. Enjoy!
